One Forum.
Every Sikh. All of Yorkshire.

For nearly four decades the Yorkshire Sikh Forum has served as the trusted community voice of Sikhs across this region. Founded in Bradford in 1989 by Dr Nirmal Singh Sekhon MBE FRSA, the Forum has convened families, businesses, professionals and youth — from Bradford to Leeds, Sheffield to York, Huddersfield to Hull.

This year, the Forum opens a new chapter. Youth membership and Women's membership are now fully free, removing cost as any barrier to community. Adult, Family and Lifetime Patron tiers continue to fund the Forum's civic, charitable and cultural work across all twelve Yorkshire cities.

“A promise that belongs to every Sikh in Yorkshire.

We founded the Forum in nineteen eighty-nine with a simple promise — to be the community voice of Sikhs in Yorkshire. From a small gathering in Bradford, the Forum has grown into the recognised civic body for our people across the whole region. Today, that promise belongs to every Sikh in Yorkshire — from the Bradford Gurdwaras to the streets of Hull, from the legal chambers of Sheffield to the lecture halls of York.

What the Forum Stands For

Four principles. One Forum.

I.
Community

Bringing Sikh families and youth together across all of Yorkshire — town to town, generation to generation.

II.
Civic Voice

A trusted voice with MPs, councils, police and interfaith partners — on matters that affect Yorkshire Sikhs.

III.
Heritage

Preserving and celebrating Sikh values, history and culture — Vaisakhi, Gurpurabs, charity and remembrance.

IV.
Next Generation

Supporting Sikh youth, students and women across Yorkshire — with mentorship, bursaries and a platform.
